Austin, TX ---The Rams needed to bounce back from a tough lost to Texas Wesleyan this past Sunday, when HT outplayed TWU for 85 minutes and went to sleep for 10 to lose in overtime.
The story would be different in this outing, as it was Senior Night and the Rams would be without center midfielder and senior Mario Orosco, who sits out with 5 yellow cards. The team looked a little shaky at first, as they tried to see what visiting Our Lady of the Lakes possessed. OLLU had a strong midfield that really sought to possess the game. However, the Rams settled in and jumped into the lead early behind Varney Saidu and Abraham Bernal who linked up and put HT on the board 1-0. Later a threatening run by Bernal caused a foul near OLLU's box, which set up the free kick specialist Toscano who would beat the keeper to near post to net his 14th goal of the season. The Rams finished the half with an impressive 2-0 lead over the visiting squad from San Antonio, who were coming off a big win over Texas Wesleyan.
The second half would go pretty much the same as freshman goaltender Daniel Jost from McCallum High School recorded his 2nd shutout of the season. The Rams completed their home schedule for the 2007 season with only 3 losses.
The Rams are back in action this Friday as they take on Northwood for their last conference match-up before the conference tournament starting next Thursday in Fort Worth. Head Coach Arick Lassiter comments about his young squad by saying, "I would hate to have to play Huston-Tillotson, because on any given night you never know who will show up and do damage. When they are on and make up in their mind they want to play together, its a beautiful thing to watch."
