Rams sparkle at RRAC meet Minimize
  

Cedar Hill, TX - The HT men's and women's track teams performed well at the Red River Athletic Conference track meet held at Cedar Hill High School's Longhorn Stadium on Saturday April 19, and hosted by Northwood University.  Several Ram athletes were crowned conference champions in their events.

 

Despite bringing only four women to the event, the Rams team finished 3rd with 52 points.  Angela Brown was 1st in the triple jump with a leap of 36' 10", and she placed 4th in the long jump.  Rashandra Carrier was first in the discus with a throw of 112' 1", and she placed second in the javelin.  Brittney Crowder placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.77 and she also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.82.  Tamica Jones, suffering from a knee injury, was limited to the 200-meter dash event, and she placed 4th, at 25.09.

 

The men's team also finished 3rd in the meet with a total of 83.5 points.  The Rams were paced by the emergence of hurdler Javier Jimenez in the javelin.  Jimenez first picked up a javelin three weeks ago, and won the conference meet with a throw of 156' 8".  Also new to the javelin is Edward Kozel, who runs the longer sprint events.  He finished 5th with a throw of 130' 1".  Roy Burns finished first in the discus with a throw of 127' 10" and placed second in the shot put.

 

In the running events, the Rams were led by the 4 x 800m relay team of Rosangel Rodriguez, Alfraid Manning, Edward Kozel, and Garfield Sinclair, who won the meet with a school record time of 08:18.1  The 4 x 400meter relay team of Rodriguez, Manning, Sinclair, and Chris Humphries, placed second with a school record time of 03:20.2.   Keenan Curry placed second in the 100m dash and 5th in the 200 meter, while Manning and Rodriguez placed second and third, respectively, in the 800-meter dash.  HT's 4 x 100 relay also placed 3rd, and Jimenez placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles.

 

Next up is the NAIA Outdoor Nationals being held in St. Louis May 22-24.  HT will be represented in the men's 4x400m, men's and women's 400m dash, men's 100m dash, women's triple jump, and women's 200m dash.
