Brownsville, TX --- The Rams baseball team dropped their first game in the 2008 RRAC Tournament day with at a loss to the Knights of Northwood University 14-7.

The Rams scored first with a run in the top of the fourth inning when Ro’Shard Shorter (El Campo, TX/Prairie View A&M) drew a walk and then stole second base and moved to third on a single from Michael Hearn II (Houston, TX/Prairie View A&M). Freshman Jamal Carrington (Houston, TX/Texas Southern) then laid down a perfect bunt to move Hearn to second base and to score Shorter to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
The Knights retaliated in their half of the fourth inning with five unearned runs and three earned runs to take the lead 8-1. The Rams fought back but couldn’t overcome the lead the Knights had built up in the fourth inning.
Senior catcher Trent Reynolds (Austin, TX/Anderson HS) led the Rams going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Sophomore designated hitter Oscar Rendon (Austin, TX/Brian Mackey JC) came in to pinch hit in the seventh and delivered a two run single to cut the Knights lead in half 8-4.
