Welcome to Women's Soccer

Minimize

The HT Women's Soccer Team is a very young team (3 non-freshman) quickly finding their way in a collegiate environment.   They are led on the field by Junior Captain Isela Guzman.  Her sister (injured reserve) Evelyn Guzman captains from the sidelines while she rehabs her knee.  Outstanding midfielder Yuli Jaramillo is a returning Sophmore and Junior Brittney Broadway provides strong support in the midfield.

Our fabulous summer signings of Mayra Patino, Maribel Martinez, Jessica Toscano, Pamela Carias, Juliana Reyna, and Genny O'Campo have helped provide a strong start to the fall.  Welcome walk-ons Toni Johnson, Brittany Alsandor, Shaquilla Hall, Naomi Benevidez, Icye Walker, Jasmine Cormier and Tenayiia Jenkins are quickly gaining experience and adding depth to the young squad.

Coach Rebecca Devine is assisted by experienced Senior Ashley Molock.

Senior Day a Big Sucess - Sunday, November 15, 2009

Senior Day at HT introduced us to 6 new recruits for fall 2010.  Noelani Holmes and Bianca Sharkey came from San Antonio to represent Karen Wagner High.  Both would be an excellent addition to our team joining former teammate Mari Martinez!  4 terrific prospects came from Killeen with Coach Hicks.  The cousins Ozias Ellis and Shaunally Hill were joined by teammates Camille Wright and Melissa Natal.  Their former teammate Ram Jessica Toscano met them and introduced them to the team.

HT Ends Season in Style! - Monday, November 09, 2009

The HT Women's team has ended their fall season and are looking forward to spring training.  The team begins strength and skill training for the winter season this week.  They are now focusing on next fall and are training to improve themselves individually.  As a team they will be playing soccer all spring long and playing in three important tournaments.  Recruting is now in full force with many high school seniors being vetted.  Included are Shaunalli Hill from Shuemaker High, she is coming to visit on Saturday the 14th for Senior Day!  We look forward to meeting many new faces over the next few months and signing new talent for another young team full of freshman and sophmores!

Rams Shut Out Bacone! - Saturday, October 10, 2009

Our young guns shut down the Bacone offense in Saturdays RRAC show down.  The Rams pushed the visiting Bacone team out of their defensive end and peppered the Bacone keeper with shots.  At full time the whistle blew to a 0-0 end.  In double-over time our young heroines looked likely to score with Captain Isela Guzman running out of the midfield through onto goal.  Forwards Toni Johnson and Shaquilla Hall caused plenty of trouble for the Bacone defense with their speed and tenacity.  Sweeper Mayra Patino kept things clean at the back.  Goalkeeper Pam Carias had 25 saves to keep a clean sheet.  The Rams take to the road next on Saturday heading to another RRAC showcase at SAGU.

Rams score! - Friday, October 09, 2009

Our young heroines scored their first goal of the season when Freshman Sweeper Mayra Patino scored unassisted in the upper right corner of the goal against Texas College on Thursday afternoon.  The Rams held Texas College to 1-0 at half time but lost momentum in the second half playing against the wind.  They eventually lost 5-1 in their second RRAC game.  The look to get back on the score boards and earn their first win against Bacone on Saturday the 10th at 3pm on their home field at St. Francis.

Women's Soccer Have Tight Game versus Texas Lutheran - Wednesday, September 16, 2009

The Women's Soccer team traveled to Seguin to play Texas Lutheran in a non-conference game.  Despite a head injury to goalkeeper Pam Carias the Rams held to them to 0-0 at half time.  They went down a goal in the second half.  At 15 minutes to go the Rams pushed freshman sweeper Mayra Patino forward to see what havoc she could work.  The strategy started to work with numerous fouls leading to opportunities on goal and as well as through balls freeing freshmen Toni Johnson and Shaquilla Hall for one on one shots on their keeper.  Unfortunately with so much effort going forward loose marking allowed Texas Lutheran to get two more goals in the last 6 minutes of the game and the Rams lost 3-0.  A very solid effort by our young and inexperienced soccer team.

Game vs UMHB Rained Out - Rescheduled for 9/21 - Sunday, September 13, 2009

The Women's Soccer Game in Belton was rained out on Saturday.  The game is tentatively rescheduled for 9/21 at 5pm in Belton.  Until then the Rams will stay busy by playing against Texas Lutheran away on Tuesday and Our Lady of the Lake away on Friday.

Freshman Team loses to NCAA Div 1 TX Southern by 4 - Saturday, September 05, 2009

Our young team lost by 4 to Houston based Texas Southern.  An early goal woke up our team to battle to a half time result of 0-1.  Freshman Shaquilla Hall forced their goalkeeper to pick up the ball outside her box at the end of the half.  Freshman Mayra Patino put a good shot on goal from the direct kick but no goal.  In the second half tired legs left the team with a result of 0-4.
