Paul Quinn College turns away Huston-Tillotson women
DALLAS – Four different players scored in double-figures for the Paul Quinn Lady Tigers, who claimed an 84-60 win over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday.
At the Tigers Den on the campus of Paul Quinn College, Ashley Williams and Hannah DeBose scored 14 points apiece as the Lady Tigers avenged an earlier loss to HT in Austin.
The Rams squandered a 26-point effort from Kevetta Williams. The freshman from Waco (University) drained eight out of 15 field goal attempts and all nine free throws she took in 26 minutes off the bench.
Shaneka Mason (Bryan/Bryan/Blinn College) was the only other Huston-Tillotson player to reach double-figures, tallying 10 points for the Rams.
Turnovers plagued the Rams throughout the game. HT turned the ball over 33 times in the game, compared to just 17 turnovers by the Tigers.
Paul Quinn led 36-29 at halftime, and caught fire in the second half, scoring 48 points during the latter 20 minutes.
The Tigers drained 16 out of 22 free throws in the second half.
Ashley Bell (Beaumont/West Brook/North Platte CC) hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds and recorded five steals for the Rams.
