Rams lose second consecutive game, fall to Jarvis Christian 87-77
HAWKINS, Texas – Huston-Tillotson’s Ashley Bell finished a rebound shy of a double-double, but the Rams were defeated 87-77 at Jarvis Christian College on Monday.
At Jarvis’ E.W. Rand Gymnasium, Rameitha Buford came off the Lady Bulldog bench to score 21 points, as the home team avenged a loss to Huston-Tillotson in Austin earlier this season.
Dominique Mathis and Ashley Brooks scored 15 points apiece for Jarvis Christian.
Bell (Beaumont/West Brook/North Platte CC) matched Buford with 21 points and secured nine rebounds.
Kevetta Williams (Waco/University) came off the bench to score 20 points for Huston-Tillotson. It was the fourth time in five games that Williams has reached the 20-point plateau in a reserve role.
Brittney Jones (Houston/Hightower) scored 14 points for the Rams. Shaneka Mason (Bryan/Bryan/Blinn College) added 10 points.
Iesha Everline (Houston/Western Texas College) secured a game-high 12 rebounds for the Rams.
The Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak to Huston-Tillotson. The Rams swept last year’s season series from Jarvis Christian, and then defeated the Lady Bulldogs in the first round of the Red River Athletic Conference tournament.
The Rams play their final home game Saturday when they host Langston as part of HT’s Homecoming weekend. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
